Valley of Peace students together on a school outing

About Us

A community built on faith and purpose

Since 2006, families have found belonging here. Meet the people, the values, and the story behind Valley of Peace SDA Academy.

To educate is to redeem

Mission

To provide well-rounded education which develops the students for productive citizenship on earth and in heaven.

Vision

Valley of Peace Seventh-day Adventist will be recognized in the country of Belize as a high school that nurtures intellectual vitality — one where lives are transformed through holistic education, and the student is nurtured one at a time to become responsible members of the community and country.

Who We Are

Nurturing minds, building character

Valley of Peace SDA Academy exists to provide Christ-centered education that develops the whole student — intellectually, spiritually, physically, and socially. We partner with families to prepare students for a life of purpose, service, and leadership.

What We Stand For

The values that guide us

Everything we do flows from who we are. These four commitments shape every classroom, hallway, and conversation.

Christ at the Center

Every subject is taught through the lens of a loving God. Spiritual growth is not an add-on, it is the foundation.

Academic Rigor

We hold students to high standards because we believe every child is capable of greatness. Curriculum that challenges and inspires.

Known and Loved

Small classes mean every student is known by name. Teachers walk alongside each child's growth, not just their grades.

Family Partnership

Education is a three-way covenant between school, student, and home. We grow together.

Our Story

Two decades of small beginnings and steady growth

The village of Valley of Peace was founded in 1982, and in 2006 the academy opened as its first high school. Our history is marked not by chance but by purpose — each milestone brought more families, more opportunities, and a deepening commitment to faith and learning.

A word from our principal

“We like to say VOPA is a school where your child is known. Not a number, not a statistic, but a beloved child of God with boundless potential.”

A Community Is Born

The village of Valley of Peace is founded in the Cayo District. Students seeking a secondary education must travel to Belmopan — a journey once made by tractor-pulled cart.

2006

School Founded

Valley of Peace SDA Academy opens as the community's first and only high school, bringing secondary education home to Valley of Peace families.

2024

Free Tuition for All

The academy joins Belize's Education Upliftment Project — tuition is waived and every student receives uniforms and a free daily lunch.
